Rashan Gary took less money to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys rather than being released by the Packers earlier this month, according to multiple reports.
Gary will be paid $16 million for the 2026 and 2027 season and he receives a signing bonus of $13.2 million, NFL Network reported.
Acquired from the Packers for a 2027 fourth-round pick, Gary's contract in Green Bay called for salaries of $19.5 million in 2026 and $22.5 million in 2027.
The 28-year-old was expected to be released before Dallas made a deal to pair the edge rusher with former Packers teammate Kenny Clark. Clark was acquired from Green Bay as part of the trade involving Micah Parsons last August.
Gary has 46.5 career sacks and adds to the ongoing overhaul of the front seven in Dallas. In 2025, Gary started in 15 games and generated 7.5 sacks, 20 QB hits, seven tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for the Packers.
